Freedom Lost

Freedom Lost

A Poem by MariaDahl1791

Hear the sound of the song bird sing

Can you hear the pretty thing?

Never a worry, never alone.

Always singing to the unknown

Song Bird, what do you sing?

Do you sing of love and delight?

"No. No." she replies

"For I sing of sorrow in the fading light."

Why song bird, do you sing of sorrow?

"I sing of a dream, long since lost.

I sing for my dream, tis full of shadow"

Oh, song bird, what is this dream?

Pray tell, you shall sing.

The song bird cries in pain

"I sing for freedom that man took in vain!"

Brilliant poem. Nice flow and the final line "I sing for freedom that man took in vain!" finishes it off wonderfully. Good work

About
I've recently started writing. I had friends tell me to start sharing it with other people and (maybe) get them published. But one step at a time. My comfort zone is singing and horse training. But .. more..
