Alaska

Alaska

A Poem by Black Branches

I think I'll go somewhere,
In Alaska's cold I'll settle alone.

I pondered on the fallen angel.

No matter how dark my thoughts are on the essence of the universe,
I love the piercing Cold so much.

Even God grows evil.

I pondered on the fallen angel.

Poetry is not prose!

I'll settle in Alaska.
Black branches, Naked branches.

With anarchist behaviors We turn our backs on all the proud ones -
I thought about virtue, forgiveness -
But no, Even God grows evil.
I love winter, Black branches.

Poetry is not prose!

From what I remember reading, the "fallen angel" may have been Satan himself; and the protagonist clearly seems to feel in a dark place. Feelings of bitterness, and a "cold" state of mind; are expressed well. The last verse, had a rebellious feel to it, speaking of "we turn our backs"; with even both "virtue" and "forgiveness" being rejected by conscious choice. With winter drawing near, it's also a timely piece of writing. Even the setting of Alaska, really does fit in with the protagonist's feelings and thoughts. After all, that "beautiful" region can also behave with cruelty; to those who may be ill-prepared for phases of the"bitter" cold (and how isolated people can become within more remote areas of Alaska). What a reviewer cannot be sure of, are the full motives; for why this protagonist seeks to embrace the cold? For example, self-punishment? A wanton desire to feel bad? Or, to escape and seek solace from the everyday? Of course, wanting to feel at one with the cold environment is an important need; in addition to rejecting a few key traditional values by this protagonist. That's made clear too, in this write. Thanks for sharing here, and hope that you keep writing.

"poetry" can be "prose".

Alaska is beautiful.

Have you ever seen a movie called "30 Days of Night"? Oh that is some good Alaska based cinema right there.
