The Buried Shovel

The Buried Shovel

A Poem by Mari-Sweet

A snow storm of twenty plus inches

swallowed up the backyard.

I was building a snow mountain

and decided to use the shovel.

After play time, I laid it

down in the snow. More inches

tumbled down to the yard and the shovel

played hide-and-seek the next day.

No matter how deep I tunneled,

that shovel was winning.

When would it be my turn to hide?

I'm sure I'll find that shovel eventually. Kidding!
