The Chocolate ThunderA Poem by Mari-SweetAt an amusement park, there's a ride called the "Chocolate Thunder." When I approach the ride, my payment method is a note with my phone number on it. I'm on the ride and off I go. First phone call! The ride goes up. Regular phone calls and quality time. I continue to go up. Transportation to and fro. Still going up. To the movies! Still going up. Christmas gifts for one another. Going up some more. The "Princess" label is given to me! Up some more. I express my feelings. Up some more. I'm at the top and suddenly.....
Too busy. The ride starts to plummet. Good moments in between. I go up some but the ride is bumpy. Up and down. No Christmas gift for him till I step in. The ride shoots up. Still busy. I plummet again. More good moments in between. Bumpy ride. No time for me. Down I go. I give him a break till my birthday. Riding around the track, until.....
Girlfriend is revealed! Then I really take a dive. All freedom is lost. Still going down. How to deal? Riding around the track once again. No escape from the grief. The ride continues to circle. Valentine's Day greeting goes awry. Another plummet. "Let me off this ride!" After his birthday, I'm letting myself off. But instead.....
Single again. So I stay on the ride. I still cease contact with him. The ride circles again. New Facebook page. Friend request denied. Abandon ship! Oh wait! It was an accident! No need to abandon ship. Friend request accepted! Up I go. Little to some contact. Straight ahead, until.....
No longer available. A small dive. Single again. Straight ride. There for him after he loses his brother. The ride pauses. Kiss on the cheek! I shoot up. The ride continues up, but then.....
Another girl. Freeze! I have to deal somehow. The ride pauses again. Feelings trying to resolve. Calm ride with slight ups and downs. To this day, I still ride the "Chocolate Thunder" but through it all.....
Still his angel because I care. Still hanging on. © 2011 Mari-SweetAuthor's Note
