The Train

The Train

A Poem by Marguerite
"

Haunted by loss

"

The steady hum of the locomotive
Carries me forward in time.
A lone passenger, void of cargo
Watching time recede.

The wheels clicking on the tracks
Mesmerizes me with its cadence.
A mechanical lullaby
Whispering, time will heal.

Rain pirouettes in the distance
Beckoning me to follow.
Leaving behind barren landscape
To shimmering lush fields

The metallic howl of the brakes
Pulls me back in time
Wrenched back to the moment
When time fractured.

Time smiling in benevolence
Hands resting on loves creation
A single tick of the second hand
The conductor shouts, ..all aboard...
