To My Dearest

To My Dearest

A Poem by Margie F
"

A declaration to my first love.

"

C 1989

The moon is its brightest
When we sit,
And hold each other
For quite a bit.

As my love for you
Grows stronger and stronger,
We will stay sitting
Longer and longer.

Can’t you see how much
I love you, dear,
For that is why
We have grown so near.

Yes, I see how your love
Grows for me
For it hovers over
As an evergreen tree.

It never strays.
It never lies.
It’s forever living,
And never dies.

You keep me shaded
When the days are hot,
And you keep me warm
The days that are not.

So I’d like to give
A special thanks to you,
For loving me
As much as you do.

For love is
A hard thing to find,
But I’ll tell you this,
I’ve found mine!

Young love. How sweet that was. You have just sent me on a nostalgia trip. Very pleasant it was too.
