Moon Mystery

Moon Mystery

A Poem by Margie F

C 2001

I never understood why
the moon would follow me.
I’d walk left and then right,
and there it still would be.

I hid behind the old oak tree,
peeked around; it was still there.
How’d that moon know where I was?
How was it was everywhere?

I ran and ran as fast as I could;
looked back, it was on my trail.
I jumped in the river and swam away;
it stayed right on my tail.

I tried so hard to loose that moon
that I wore my poor self out.
Then I went home and fell asleep
and woke up the morning hour.

I ran outside and to my surprise
the moon was gone without a doubt.
It got so tired of waiting for me.
I psyched that 'ole moon out!
