I Thirst

I Thirst

A Poem by Margie F

C 2002

What can I do to please you?
I don't think I can, I've tried.
All I can do is yield to you,
but I have no selfish pride.

What is left of me to give?
There's not even much left to say.
If it's my blood, my dear, you want
here's a knife, now cut away.

I thirst for love;
I thirst for all my pains now to depart.
I thirst for you to show true love;
I thirst to own your heart.

But too many things still own you,
and your heart will not concede.
To become mine may never happen.
I thirst, I thirst, I bleed.
