Halfway Doll

Halfway Doll

A Poem by Margaret Marie Hubbard

This ain't no halfway house
I'm not your halfway doll
You give your heart in pieces
when I want to have it all.
All the pretty words you tell
hold no meaning in this hell.
You think you can make a family
then turn around and flee.
Some think I'm crazy
some think I am weak
But the truth is,
that's only what they think
If you want me
then you can have me
If you don't know yet
let me tell you how
If your heart is here
then let it stay right now.
Cause this ain't no halfway house
And I ain't your halfway doll.
The false hope when you are by my side
it keeps tearing at my heart and pride
Sometimes I look over and you are there
other times I know that pillow is bare.
Living like this is tearing me apart
When you say to me that I have no heart
A warm embrace makes me feel so sweet
then you turn and I hear footsteps leaving me.
Some think I'm crazy
some think I am weak
But the truth is,
that's only what they think
If you want me
then you can have me
If you don't know yet
let me tell you how
If your heart is here
then let it stay right now.
Cause this ain't no halfway house
And I ain't your halfway doll.
Let me tell you boy
you need to be a man
either leave for good
or take my hand
The leaving should be easy
but the struggle to stay
doesn't come that way
It takes a strong man to believe me
It takes a weak hand to release me.
Some think I'm crazy
some think I am weak
But the truth is,
that's only what they think
If you want me
then you can have me
If you don't know yet
let me tell you how
If your heart is here
then let it stay right now.
Cause this ain't no halfway house
And I ain't your halfway doll.

I hope you compose music, these are very lyrical lines. Assertion in prose and poetry. It's crisp and clear and tells the emotion. start composing.

This things stings like a slap across the face.. brutal and full of emotions, but I get a feeling of resolve to. The metaphors are a great addition, and sell the story fully. Super Job, a new favorite..

this is good!!! some great metaphors here, a nice consistent flow and strong sentiments - the emotional abuser: "The false hope when you are by my side
it keeps tearing at my heart and pride" nice!!
