I Tried

I Tried

A Poem by Marcus
"

Haven't posted anything in a long time and tbh, this just came too me. So give it a read and let me know what you think, thanks.

"
Sat down by the ocean
Surrounded by darkness I see, this life was not meant for me
Maybe knock some pills back, an I'll be free
Don't tell me you love me now that I'm gone
That's all I needed to here for me to stay
Everyone telling me "Have hope, hold on." All I can say is, I have none
Oh how I tried to make you love me,
But how could you possibly love a ghost, a ghost that is me.

My Mother, My Mother,
Would she be proud of me?

I've cried my soul dry
It's time to let me go, I'm already dead inside
If you could see me now
You would take back all the things you ever said to me
But all I ask is,

Don't forget me
Don't regret me
Oh please, don't forget me
Oh please, don't regret me

The rhythm in this poem is so natural to me. The speaker proclaims that "it's time to let me go, I'm already dead inside," but I argue that it is time to let go of the person being spoken to. The speaker in this poem is most certainly not dead inside. He is deliberate and careful with his language and his emotions--his soul. Keep writing, Marcus. You're great at it.
