reflections on....(at fountainside)

reflections on....(at fountainside)

A Poem by Marcus Mckenzie

my thoughts return to those moments often
already dissolving, blending
fact and fiction
one moment seeping into the next

i taste you in my tea
the bitter, the sweet
mingle inextricably
and i cannot equitably replace
the way the two combine

impulsively, i might kill or die
to sit in the sun again
and watch you watching
rainbows and diamonds
being scattered in the sky
until there is
no time
no life
no world outside
only a fountain of youth
for us to drink from
with smiling eyes
