atypical type 1a supernova

atypical type 1a supernova

A Poem by Marcus Mckenzie

in the midnight graveyard silence
millenia pass
incremental declination occurs
primary fuel exhaustion incites involuntary reflex
in the absence of hydrogen, burn helium
accept the additional strain as
a condition of continuance
until even that is gone

cold white dwarf, exile

companion star bleeds off excess

like a gluttonous leech
add to your mass

chandrasekhar's limit warns
but you've always defied the theories of men

lesser stars would fail now
and burst with normalcy
but still you grow
how many planets will you swallow
when you go
supernova?
