vampire eyes

vampire eyes

A Poem by Marcus Mckenzie

obsidian disks, flat beneath moonless nights
welcome no reflected stars

the depthless pools invite questions
refusing to be answered.

there is no time;
it has suffered rigor mortis
and been frozen as a silent scream.

deceptive shadows
themselves deceived in wrath and pride
roam the twilight wastelands

rotting vegetation creeps
among ruined crypts, among forgotten lives

there is no time;
the friendless present dies
so too, the sympathetic future suicides
