Inside & Out

Inside & Out

A Poem by Marc

How soft a bed and warm a house.

The world is mine"no disagreement here.

Only my own self to abide.

Dreams float in heavenly tiers.

The air outside splits and gorges

Pinpricks of lead unto hot brittle skin.

Unknown lands with unknown clans discourage

Idle visits into dangerous inns.

Yet the same fear turns to excitement

When people gather: cheer, laughter resounds

Through hillsides and chatter lightens my

Dulled mood, booming goodwill surrounds.

Inside we find safety in ourselves, yet

Outside there is communion, I forget.

I love my little house and its comfort for me, but I have missed socializing...I want us to be able
to open up again....
I always liked my place as a hideaway, but I have been hid away a bit too long.
Inside wanting to be out.
I really like this piece.

The external world can indeed be a dangerous place when compared to one's own comfy retreat. The last two lines indicate what the speaker has learned about this dichotomy. A wise piece here.
