Transmissions

Transmissions

A Poem by Solomon J
"

A poem from the Poem Book.

"

It was as far as it was tall

This faraway place

It was taken, it was dreamt

It was long sought, then long gone

It was all that they could think

Some could not even see

The signals in the night

Transmissions through the sky

Radios wailing softly

Searches for a sign

All that I can hear this night

Signals echo through the air

Lonely souls drone in the quiet

Those souls lie in walls

Sit in cars on the road

Just as alone as the voice they hear

I cannot help but feel the miles

In their weary words

Turn the dial, pray for a sign

The signals in the night

Transmissions through the sky

The lone tower, on highest hill

Sending messages, so clear

Just for a moment, listen to this only

Just for a moment, everyone is lonely

Tonight is a dark one

The longest night this year

Turn on your radio

Don't speak now, just hear

The city lights, no soul tonight

Turn the dial, pray for a sign

Just as alone, we listen

To the signals in the night

Transmissions through the sky
