Relentless Thoughts

As I lay and try to sleep
Thoughts in my head still run deep
Recalling where I used to be
I can hardly believe what happened to me
A draconian insect left me to hang
My life seemed to stop with a sudden bang
Even some whom I gave my trust
Cast me out; my spirit started to rust
Friends and lovers alike turned away
Even as I tried to climb out of the fray
'Tis still hard to keep my spirits high
When what I want just passes on by
I still have some tenacity yet
I will get out of this hell and I will make that bet
For I refuse to remain stuck
I will one day climb out of this muck
Have a place of my own and go back to school
And have a job and not living like a fool
Then life will turn into a smoother ride
And perhaps find a girl who will stay at my side
