Black Silk

Black Silk

A Poem by Dean Marais
"

For Emily

"

Black silk in my hands and heart
Knowing full well it could turn out this way
Right from the start.
Like a liquid,
You filled the cracks of my broken-ness
Like a delicate flower,
You rest in my bed
I'm just another man lost in time
Just another wave in this storm
We call human life.
I'm just another wave
Looking for the shore.
Looking for your room, your bed, your floor
Let me slide along the beaches of your heart
Let me smash against the rocks of your desire
I burn, I burn, yes I'm on fire
A burning man amongst ashes of men
All burned out but I'm still burning
Come burn with me my sweet
Across oceans, across continents
Across the world complete
I have all these dreams -
All these dreams and your screams,
In the darkness of night,
You get me through.
Waiting for the sun and longing for the light
Black silk and dark eyes in the morning
Waking from a dream of you, my favorite sight
