Chapter 3~A Chapter by Mara-J
I started down the driveway, taking serious caution. As I walked down the sidewalk, I looked at all of the deceased people lying around me. It was a gruesome sight that made me shudder and go into hysterics. My slow walk turned into a jog as I heard buildings igniting behind me. I looked back and everything fell into flames and horrible screams from dying people. I stopped to look back and see what set the building on fire. Many cries for help were heard from the burning remainders. Maybe this is step 1 to the saving the world process. I thought, Well, lets go check it out.
I sprinted to the building as fast as possible. I was out of breath when I got there, but it didn't really matter to me anyway. Not only did I see the raging orange flames, but inside the building I saw a glowing white light. It was a small light, but it had to be something important, right? The only flaw to this was that I had no way to put out the fire. I looked around frantically for any sign of water, but everything in the area was bone dry. Damn it. I thought to myself. Just then, I saw that mysterious girl again. "Oh thank God! I'm so happy you're here! What do I do?" I managed to ask her. "Use your power, Susie. You can do anything with it." she told me with a sincere look. "But how? I don't know how to use it yet!" She began to step back slowly, "That is what you must find out. Good luck, Susie." She was gone. "No, wait! Come back!" I screamed. Well, she told me to figure it out myself. Here goes nothing. I closed my eyes and tried to focus my energy on water. I imagined an ocean, a lake, a pond...rain! A heavy downpour from the clouds appeared. Now the dry, hot land around me turned cool and wet. I watched as the fire slowly began to die down. Once it was all gone, I ran inside the remainder of the house. All the people inside were long gone. Tears formed in my eyes as I looked at all of them. If only I could have saved them. They didn't deserve this. I thought as I cried hard. Then I remembered the glowing white light. I looked across the room, and there it was. It was still there. I ran up to it to see what it really was. The light was too bright to see what it was, so I grabbed it carefully. It was a crystal. A crystal? Really? What the hell am I supposed to use this for? Then a stronger white light appeared in front of me. I looked up and saw a beautiful woman with silver hair and a long white dress. She was decorated in silver objects and jewelry. "Who are you? Can you tell me what this crystal is for?" was all I managed to say. "I am the Phantom of Ice. That crystal is used to bring ice when it is needed most. Keep it safe, Susie. You will need it during and after your voyage to save the world. Good luck." and she was gone. I kept those words tucked in my brain and ran out the door. It became so windy, that I had to hang on to a light post that was, surprisingly, still on the street. The wind was too strong, though. I was suddenly swept off of the light post and sent through the air.
