No

No

A Poem by Maple
"

Sexism is alive and well.

"
No, she should not have to keep all of this bottled up,
She should not be expected to cook dinner and clean the house,
She is not your maid, and she is not your servant.

No, he should not have to work for the family,
He should not have to hide his tears,
And he should not have to be the strongest one.

No, we should not have to be this way,
But that is the way we are raised.

No, she does not blame her mother for teaching her to cook and clean,
She does not blame her for telling her to be quiet,
She does not blame her for teaching her to never speak her mind.
Because her mother knows no different.

No, he does not blame his father for teaching him to be “a man,”
He does not blame him for teaching him to never cry,
He does not blame him for telling him to be strong every day, because his father knows no different.

No, we do not blame our parents for teaching us these things,
But people must grow with time,
And so should the way we raise our children.

No, we children will not put up with this any longer.
