The Curse for Beauty

The Curse for Beauty

A Poem by Amanda Naomi

it is easy for the beautiful to say
that true beauty lay within.
but they've never had those awkward stares,
those pointed fingers.

a curse i lay upon you all
with perfect teeth, hair, and skin.
may every kindness you show
be a blemish upon your face.

then if you still believe
that beauty is not skin deep,
maybe then i'll believe you!

Author's Note

Amanda Naomi
the original concept for this piece was the exact opposite....i was thinking about true beauty and a thought came to me.....
how its easy for me to say that true beauty comes from within, however people have only ever told me i was beautiful (my husband is the worst :P) what about those poor unfortunate souls who don't have such blessings..... hence the first two lines

enjoy :)

btw, i don't know where i would stand...

It's an interesting concept - It's very easy to tell someone else, "it's better to be beautiful on the inside" even if you don't believe it yourself. I suppose you do have to be relatively confident in your outside appearance in order to have that belief. I personally believe that people perceive you as more beautiful if you are a good person. At least I tend to think so. :)
