Letting Go of Jeremy

Letting Go of Jeremy

A Poem by Amanda Naomi
"

Goodbye love, and goodbye Jeremy.

"

At last I have found the answer

And not the one for which I long

It's not that he's too old

But that i am just too young

Innocence has kept me from him

And time will keep apart

The infatuous and lustful hopes

That I hide within my heart

In times of change I must be brave

And take that leaping jump

But without love to cary me

Will it be enough?

I hope and doubt, and hope some more

That his arms will part for me

And even if he doesn't say

Perhaps he'll think of me

Alas my wand'ring mind has strayed

Into the world's forbid

And even though he's perfect age

My years are too few lived

It's all about chemistry, judging from my own experiences. I think the only time age differences get in the way is if we allow them to. Sometimes you might not see any problem at all but the other person might. Unless that person feels a natural gravitation toward you, or a soul connection, then his or her problem with age will be a constant problem. I've learned through many relationships the difficulty in changing another person's perspective. We are all stubborn in our own ways. The most beautiful thing about a relationship are not the things the two share in common, but the differences themselves. However, not many people feel that way, and they may focus solely on the differences as problems. If that happens, then maybe the soul connection is not there. If there is no soul connection, then there is someone else out there for you, and you can be at peace in knowing this. Much love to you.....

Dear poet,

One of the better poems I've read recently. I enjoyed everything about it. Love your style of writing. As far as the age difference, eight years might seem like a lot when your younger but when you get older, eight years isn't really all that much. Some people are young for their age, some are old, you never really know until you've been with them for awhile. I wish you and your's all the best!

Firstly, a fine poem, meter's steady, phrases formed so well...

Innocence has kept me from him
And time will keep apart
The infatuous and lustful hopes
That I hide within my heart

Other lines, words are hugged by emotion, it drips through, line after line .. as to the lines :

'It's not that he's too old
But that i am just too young ' and

'And even though he's perfect age
My years are too few lived'

within the poem, put soooooo well.. Do I sense doubts though.. in spite of the repeating of certain lines, see below. Lot of emotion in this.

Anyway, in life.. does age matter? Age means ripe and, once, in a blue moon, he.. or she.. is just ready for the picking! Seriously, give me the mature man, the wise man, the charming and sensitive man..

Great write, thank you for sharing.
