Fare Thee Well

Fare Thee Well

A Poem by Amanda Naomi

Fare thee well
As sea bound winds take my sky
Fare thee well
While my eyes behold you lie
Fare thee well
My sudden inspiration whispering
Fare thee well
As Autumn leaves, the withering
Fare thee well my Love

Toss me screaming
Into unrelenting waves
As the sails are carried
From these empty days

Fare thee well
As sea bound winds take my sky
Fare thee well my Love

Slumber holding fast
One from which you cannot wake
Sleep on my babe
And your secrets with you take

Fare thee well
While my eyes behold you lie
Fare thee well my Love

The voices fade
Paper burns and paints grow pale
Nothing more is left for dust
My heart is dried and ailed

Fare thee well
My sudden inspiration whispering
Fare thee well my Love

Strolling under bare branches
The last of life upon the ground
Where love is lost
And hope is found

Fare thee well
As Autumn leaves, the whithering
Fare thee well my Love

Kiss me cold when you say goodbye
Lift me from these golden lies
Time…Time…Goodbye

Fare thee well
As sea bound winds take my sky
Fare thee well
While my eyes behold you lie
Fare thee well
My sudden inspiration whispering
Fare thee well
As Autumn leaves, the withering
Fare thee well my Love

This just cries tears and tears. The repeated line : 'Fare thee well' is almost as if you're testing the words on your own feelings, preparing yourself for letting go, for parting.

Your metter is almost perfect.. just occasional lines where it's not quite rhythmic:

Fare thee well
As Autumn leaves, the whithering
Fare thee well my Love

but, the emotion you're showing compensates

The first and last stanze is like a frame for the others and, I truly admire the 3:4 lines you've used.

This is so sad but beautifully executed. Thank you for sharing
