Alone

Alone

A Poem by Amanda Naomi

Such an awful fate to have
To be surrounded by people
And yet to know that you are alone

To scream at them frustrated and angry
And no one caring what you say
     You feel all the more…Alone

But in your torrent of curses and angry words
You did not hear the gentle whisper
    That spoke to you
“You are not alone.
     I am here.”

So when you ran off into the night
You did not know that it was your choice
     To be alone.

Wow! I agree. We are only as alone as we make ourselves. I know you probably did this intentionally, to leave the reader with the question "Who is the voice?" And, it is an excellent rhetorical device to help us as we ponder the question "Who is with me?" Just one note: you don't have to underline the wordchoice. The emphasis reveals itself much clearer without the underline, in my opinion. Again I say, very nicely done....
