Only Two

Only Two

A Poem by Michelle Tarnowski
"

But in the space of a heartbeat time stood still to let eternity pass.....

"

Love at first sight….it sounded so old fashioned

A phrase taken out of the past

and brought into a place

where it should no longer apply.

But in the space of a heartbeat

time stood still to let eternity pass

In a single breaths measure

the world around them disappeared

until it held only two

They became

two hearts sharing the same rhythm

two breaths mingled into one

two souls joined in unity

Their warm kisses burned like fire

Their cool hands kindled flames

flashing across their skin

Leaving little in the aftermath

As if in a dream they moved together

In whispers softer than the night

they shared their hearts secrets

Between them they held everything

they had been searching for.

I sense that depth of love where someone steps out of time and rests as it where in eternity itself. Love this poem.

I love this. I love the imagery of two lovers making fire with just embrace. I especially love the last line

"Between them they held everything

they had been searching for."

That is powerful.

Thats love.

I started writing when I took journalism and wrote for the college newspaper for a year. I loved it so much that the last quarter I took it without credit. My need to write comes and goes. When it is .. more..
