Heavy Tears

Heavy Tears

A Poem by Michelle Tarnowski

Heavy tears like cold oil

move slowly down her cheek

Heavy in the weight

of love missed,

of time passed,

of choices made

of opportunity lost

Heavy in the weight

of longing that burns in futile flames

of regret that revolves in a dark orbit,

of grief that swallows hopes last light,

of despair that numbs the soul

Heavy tears like cold oil

move slowly down her cheek
