Sixteen minutes

Sixteen minutes

A Poem by Michelle Tarnowski
"

Truth and lies both exposed. I had become a creature of my own design....

"

Hazy sunlight filters down

Dancing lightly around me,

Sixteen minutes of wonder

I sit gazing into what I can not touch

Was it silently mocking my own inability

to touch another’s heart, or, to be touched?

Was I too aloof to feel the radiance of love

filtering down like that nearly tangible light?

So simple in it’s purest form

Revealing everything in it’s brightness

Nothing able to hide.

Trust and fear on equal plains.

Truth and lies both exposed.

I had become a creature of my own design

Like a shape shifter

I altered what the world would see

Created in my defense, an invisible armor without chinks

cold and hard

In time, a prison with no escape

I have lost myself to emptiness

Fettered by my own fears

I like this, it is really good. You express an emotion that is tangible, and something that we all feel at one poin in time or another. Great Job
