Sojourner Lost

Sojourner Lost

A Poem by Michelle Tarnowski
"

This was written for a contest which required the words sorrow, solace, twilight, silence, abhorrence, tear, and chasm.

"

Sorrow and love you have seen

complicated thoughts and dreams

New release from old embrace

empty arms seeking space

Cost of trials are worth the risk

to find the place ambiguous

Search for solace sojourner lost

As twilight falls, resume the quest

though overwhelmed with unrest

Tread in silence the path again

yearning soon to find the end

So many missteps from the start

abhorrence roots within your heart

Search for solace sojourner lost

Truth be known, truth be told

your heart once hopeful

has grown cold

Every tear a drop of blood

Each new tear a crimson flood

Search for solace sojourner lost

A chasm wide, a great divide

a thorn plunged deep within your side

Death has come, your life is rent

you’ve found your solace in the end
