Zepher

A short poem

 

Leaves in the wind,

surprising and unpredictable.

One moment clinging

tenaciously to the branch

of familiarity and security,

the next caught by

a summer zephyr

and carried away

to new heights

and new discoveries

trusting that the wind

will not let them fall

into swirling eddies

or other unforeseen dangers.

Through the flight

there is a certain exhilaration

in sailing on the breeze,

an unexpected freedom

that the security

of the branch did not give.

Michelle, I love the metaphor of the leaf and the tree. Makes me question what I am clinging to, where my comfort zones are and what I might be missing by not letting the summer breeze take me to new heights and new discoveries. Very nicely rendered. You've painted the image in my mind and it is as clear as a summer day. Nice work.
