Ghost Particles

Ghost Particles

A Poem by Anthony M Smith Jr
"

The speed of light is widely held to be the Universe's ultimate speed limit, and much of modern physics - as laid out in part by Albert Einstein in his theory of special relativity

Cruising through Earth as Muon Nuetrinos

while they are a shape-shifting sub atomic particles

bound for fame in many science articles

Dear Kunu,

Had to write back. The story continues. There is now doubt placed on the experiment by the experimenters themselves. There are two issues with the timing that are suspect. They each go in different directions, i.e., one would make the estimate of the particle speed faster, one slower. Given that there are now doubts, and I would move my wager over to the "there are problems" camp and say the likely outcome is that the neutrinos do not travel faster than light. That was my initial position, but I was beginning to come over to the camp that maybe there was some extra-dimensional stuff involved. So how easy it is to reconsider ones position!?? That should be a lesson to all of us.

Scientific measurement is all. We can't know what to believe until the measurements are known and unassailable. Before that we are just whistling in the breeze.

Very best regards, my good friend!

Rick

Your poem is a clever and engaging exploration of the fascinating world of subatomic particles. The use of the metaphor of "cruising through Earth as Muon Neutrinos" creates a sense of wonder and excitement, while the playful description of the particles as "little bambino's bound for fame" adds a touch of humor. Your words convey a sense of awe at the mysteries of the universe, and the final line, "the speed of light has lost the fight," is both striking and thought-provoking. Your poem is a testament to the power of language to evoke wonder and inspire curiosity.

My Dear Friend,

We haven' communicated in a long time. I hope you are well. I see you're not writing as much as before. We'll, I not either. I hope this note finds you happy and healthy. All my best to you! And as far as the content of your poem, yes, there were errors in the experiment. We no longer think this experiment shows neutrinos traveling faster than light. So there is no need for exotic explanations, like tunneling through unknown dimensions to achieve this speed, etc. We now believe there is not evidence of faster-than-light travel by neutrinos. Please write back if this note reaches you.

Your devoted friend,

Rick

I like this, it is an interesting way to see the speed of light.

My grandson. He is two. Very quick!

Good question? Sometimes our minds and for that we need to slow down and think. This piece left me to ponder exactly that.

HaHo,
I know, but its the interpretation thing that stands up to science of today.

HaHo,
not long ago i was camping at the river of lights or known as the upper Iowa river that goes into the Mississippi River. I saw some lights come over the ridge where we were, they moved very fast. Made me wonder, is there anything faster than the speed of light.
while back, i was in a discussion bout a trans-dimensional portal, sure was interesting with law of physics, different reality theories(which i think will be put to the test if not already done)and my wonk-shik name has the symbol pi, yesterday was pi day!

Think of each particle as a kind of vortex where on the outside its touching the speed of light, yet toward the center there is accelleration up to c to the 5th power! What part of this vortex do WE detect? --the outside! Other particles however may experience the faster inner regions. But that just my take.
