A spell for the protection against love.

Love is an unpredictable monster, why we crave its cruelty is beyond me. We look for it, race towards and feel a failure if we do not find it. It is the one emotion we can not control, is that what makes it so addictive? Love heroin, the strongest drug of them all.

 

A spell for the protection against love

 

I ask upon our mother and the power that she holds,
I call upon the corners while my futures still untold.
The earth I ask remove my heart and bury it so deep,
That never in my life somone I love I meet.
Build me a wall so strong that Haden would be proud,
A cage around my heart and head where love is not allowed.
I ask the god of life that love is always burned,
For once this spell is spoken it can never be upturned.

I wrote this spell for myself, but have never cast it.

 

When it was written I was prepared to go through with the ritual of concencration (without which this spell is merely a poem) but something stopped me.  It was the last line.

 

However cruel the monster we call love can be, whatever name we call it by, could I really live my life without love?  At that time I was sitting in front of the fire whilst the animal solidified slept peacefully, what stopped me? maybe it was my emotional mind clinging to the very thing that feeds it.

Gosh, reading this really made me think of how things are going in my life now. My husband can be such an ogre. Not physically brutal, but emotionally ruthless. I love him, but sometimes it seems like love isn't enough for him. I don't think I could cast this either. Even though things are tough right now, I woudn't want to push love away forever. Anyway, It made me think, which is all I could ask from a poem. Thanks.
