In way there' s differnent things that run though my head what a dime and what this poem could mean.
One it could mean just what Athena had a part in the copper turned shinny is the dime that is 10 cents and nothing more. But I'll get back to that in a second.
Two is that it could mean drugs. Like buying a dime bag of something of anything. And you want it away from you don't want it around it's something that used to make you fall.
Back to the 10th of a dollar. It could mean something like call someone that cares. I've given up on you. And no you can't use my phone and or I can go someplace else and use a pay phone else where. Of course there are rarely any payphones that accept dimes let alone be able to call anywhere with that.
Of course there's the famous lyric of put another dime in the jutebox baby.
It could mean that I'm going to dance you off of me. That there's nothing that you can do you don't own me like you think that you do so I'm going to something more and just dance away from you.
Well, that ending of yours packed a lot of vitriol; I won't ask why, but it seems someone's pissed you off mightily.
Are you saying that this person only commits a dime to your dollar? That's what I got from this, and many people are like this, sadly... non-committal or reneging on past promises of intimacy, love...
Hey Girl-
I liked this, no I loved this poem. In such a short write there is great metaphors here and the word choice is so powerful, you wrote in my review about sadness. I feel it here as well, perhaps we are similar in a few ways. I intend on sending you a message soon.
It is ironic that tithing is one tenth and the promise of being obedient to that law ~ Peace and no worries about a roof over your head , food in your belly and things we need.
This should be published in a Rock Magazine. I know the owner of Crave Magazine its online check it out and if interested let me know. Her name is Robin.
Manny, what about the poor old ten pence piece? I love the rhythm of this, like you are malevolently flipping the coin and making the decision: heads or tails heads or tails tails - you lose!
This poem has a sort of a upclose and personal feel to it. And I love it. The rhythm is good too, which keeps everything flowing in motion. I especially enjoyed the very last line. That, for whatever reason, made me smile.
