A Glass Smile
A Poem by
Just Manoosh
Written pre deletion day. September 2007.
For the Venetian mask whom I adore, for myself who I abhor
A Glass Smile
She plans, maps, builds,
Her barricade.
She dreams, day, night,
Her Masquerade.
She cries, silent, lone,
Her temperance.
She wants, prays, fears,
Her deliverance.
… How elaborate her mask.

Wonderfully done. We all wear masks to varying degrees, but some of us seem to lose sight of ourselves as we hide away from others.

the face we show others is rarely the true reflection of ourselves. wonderfully put. ~peace~

ooh
admit it, you love the solitude.
i see it somewhere there, romantic love.
love - hate
sometimes its written in disgust, and at times with love.
perhaps i am wrong and i am only projecting myself though.
very good piece, i see a part of myself in it.

For some reason I am picturing a fairytale princess at a masked ball. Hiding from the evil fairy dancing with her prince who has yet to rescue her from her hell.
How bizarre! However, I enjoyed this very much. You write with impact!

I like the poem though the notion of the true person behind the mask is not new. In fact, i rather like the line of description that precedes the poem, though it is a sad line.
