A red light means stop

A red light means stop

A red light means stop

Broken in an instant, how frail a beating heart,

A whisper from a ghost rips her day apart.

Knives that strike without remorse, deadly in their pace,

Despicable aggression pulls tears upon her face.

Wretched fears they rise, they bubble then they burst,

Barricades are broken as evil does its worst.

Maliciously he bellows, callous and unkind,

Injured is her waning strength, damaged is her mind.

hm, this happens when we expect to much. I love how you dissected this feeling. you are alluding of course to this state of absolute weakness. when we give the power to the others over our self. that s why it is better expect less - and perhaps receive more. it is a hidden, subtle cynism which is saving me of being down. great poem my dear you are once again a mastress of the psychological lyrical poetry.

As I read this, I couldn't help but feel as if the subject had almost been raped by this horrible person. Rape isn't just a physical crime but also a mental one. The violator is trying to take something that isn't theirs.

This was also very successful in showing what a few planted fears can do when they manifest in our doubts and fears. The best thing we can do is not to let these people win and continue to control and manipulate us. Strength and courage are the best armor.

Cold and calloused...you put words to what I am feeling right now. Mastery of meaning! Bring on the red light it is about time that I put a stop to this.

remember that the light turns green soon after and the dark will be left behind.

Wow, I really enjoyed this read. It feels as though there are so many very deep wounds just flowing beneath the words. Thanks so much for sharing.

Whoa, an amazing piece! Incredibly deep and sorrowful. The descriptive words captured me, I'm crazy for big words so it really kept me on the poem and in a way it tells a sad story and a chilling message. I absolutely loved it! xxx Thanks Manoosh for sharing. xx

Oh yes, I love it. Particulary the mixture of emotion... sadness, agression, insanity. All in such a succinct space. The feeling, yes, is a bit chilling. It is that coldness of the ghost, I feel, that is revealed.

Bravo!

This is a little chilling, I love the imagery in this piece, it is very raw and real. So sad, but wow this piece is written so well. In a very short piece you have captured so well the emotion and fear. I love this. Thank you for sharing.

Rough. I mean really harsh for her. I couldn't help but think this is just the memory of the guy and the effect he's had on her. You show the effects of physical/mental abuse here well. Not saying I enjoy her pain but I see it coming out of her in this work.
"A whisper from a ghost rips her day apart." and "Injured is her waning strength, damaged is her mind" are the lines that stick with me. A powerful write and a good read also.
