MY REVIEW OF “WORKING-THE MUSICAL”, AN OFF BROADWAY PLAY AT THE NEW YORK CITY CENTER, WEST 55TH ST.A Poem by anthony blakeTHE LIFE OF WORKINGThe drudgery of working Sometimes you get no perk But life is surrounding work The idea of working is survival When you go to work it seems like a chore But let me explain more Imagine working in an office from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Getting to working is no jive In fact, one can’t wait until five The responsibilities being all routine Keeping on track with nothing in between Meeting at 10:00 Preparation from when Pressure during then Presentation to impress A Client’s Aptitude I hope I am appreciated after I conclude I must emphasize that the Client is enthused A Firemen’s job to save and survive There’s a fire at West 138thStreet house Like a speed of light, we must have our flashes on shining bright It’s a matter of life or death Now that is a Firemen’s job You have seen two jobs working Its morning again, you are in a rush You are talking on the phone, but you are telling the party to hush You burned the toast You have no time to finish what you cooked on your plate You are definitely running late You dash out the door You forgot sometime for sure I just missed the downtown bus I will hop in a cab being a plus Now stuck in traffic All I do is fuss Now I am starting to cuss I need to calm down being a must Traffic Traffic Traffic It’s just the norm being specific What you have just witnessed, “Working-The Musical” a play about working Did I encourage you to quit or retire? Do be inspired No time to explain as it has expired.
