TWO LANESA Poem by anthony blakeLOVE ON THE ROADThere’s more to the left and right than just pass It’s a highway where everything accelerates fast But on a highway in Tennessee, A Female Trucker and Male Hound Driver are going to connect It was a Rest Stop at Lookout Way There was a small Bar and a Medium sized Café It was at this café where Mary, the Trucker and John, the Greyhound Driver met It didn’t start well at the start in a love affair In fact, it was more in beware When Mary laid eyes on John, she thought John felt he was all that working for Greyhound, and John eyed Mary, he immediately felt in love that very moment But mine you, this was only while John glanced at Mary and hadn’t even talked Do you think Mary felt the term “Stalked?” But Mary and John often saw each other on the road, and the whole idea of love really didn’t take hold But there was love in the Hound Driver’s heart That was John’s true start Yet with Mary, she didn’t feel any spark But there was love within John So at the Café this time, Mary and John actually spoke No, it’s not a joke They were talking to each other introducing themselves and who they were about The thought of love, well that was something that had to be worked out As they both were on the highway, Mary blew the Truck Horn, and John, the Hound Driver flashed his headlights Well, oh what a night Love in plain sight The Female Trucker Driver and Male Hound Driver was now a couple It took long But now, they are in each other’s arms where they belong.
