Stand Tall, Life is Worth the Effort

Stand Tall, Life is Worth the Effort

A Poem by Jimmy Glenn
"

The poem is about what life can be if we strive to be our best.

"

What stands tall,

Nothing convincing it to fall,

What has limbs,

But has no ribs.

What grows up,

But doesn’t drink from a cup,

What creates a shadow,

And is mellow.

What uses the sun,

But doesn’t have fun,

What uses minerals,

But doesn’t attend funerals.

A tree has all these things,

And getting hit by it stings,

But like a tree,

You are free.

Pain is short,

Life is worth the effort,

But stand tall

And don’t let anyone make you fall.

One day we all die

But for now start each day with, Hi.

When our day has arrived

We will know we have strived

For the things we had

Even when we got mad.

We found a way,

Now all we can do is stay.

Life is not determined by a body,

But rather by our healthy

Actions in life,

Even in times of strife

We shall be remembered

By those who cared,

And our lessons taught

From those who fought.

Life can be hard,

But doesn’t mean we can say, A plus tard

To those we love.

We must shove

Past the feelings of sadness,

And cure our madness

So as to be good

Because we all should.

Strive for something big,

Like welding on an underwater rig,

Or something not fake

And learn to bake a cake.

In the end we live,

So that we can give

Our family the good parts

Of our sacred hearts.
