LEAFA Poem by Amanda Louise EllisonThis poem's about how everything in life eventually fades, dries up, and dies.LEAF I see a leaf lying on the ground. It lies still, then the wind blows it around. It flies high, then flies low. It goes wherever the wind wants it to go. Soon, however, the leaf turns brown, It drifts, twists, then falls down. The leaf dies, like inevitably all of us will. One second it was flying, now lies still. There are so many more leaves hanging on trees. Just like this one, they'll one day fall, then die. No longer able to float, drift or fly. We are like leaves, floating on our our very own breeze. Any one of us can fall from our tree, turn brown, then die. All of it can happen in the blink of an eye. So, I'm not going to get my hopes up too high, Because one day I'll fall, never be able to fly. I may float for awhile, in between. Then I'll die to, just like that leaf I just seen. © 2014 Amanda Louise EllisonAuthor's Note
