Love.. it is a "four letter word" so, perhaps that's a "why" it's so mind bending, heart breaking, soul embracing, heart touching...... etc, etc, etc.?????
I don't know how or why we love those who we're "not supposed to anymore" but, truth is; for me anyway... once a love has entered my heart... it seems to stick with no matter what. Time seems to erode the heart-ache of loves past and even if one does not communicate with those loves past ever again... the memories eventually make one smile and the pain eventually fade and agony as well.
Questioning oneself is a very common reflection. Here you do it with such emotion. The word despise seems a bit strong but it does add to the power of the question. The answer of course seems obvious.. You still love this person. It's difficult to stop loving someone once you allow that emotion to show itself. It's ok by the way, to love more than one person.. you just have to be careful when it comes to acting on that emotion. It's all about what you do with it now that you realize that it exists. You'll do the right thing..Keeping him as a friend is a step in the right direction. Well, as soon as he accepts the situation of course.. Thank you for sharing!
Shockingly enough, "how" is one of the most intriguing questions a person can ask themselves - a question that you have captured quite well here. The technical aspects of writing are very solid in this piece as well. Another write well done!!
