Did You Know?

Did you know...
That when you're around me
I get butterflies

And when we kiss
My heart melts

Our hands perfectly intertwined
As we walk hand in hand

What I didn't know...
Was how fast I was falling

I wondered if what we had
Could really be true and unconditional

I never experienced anything like this
In fact it was totally unknown

I had been in so many unappy relationships
Which usually involved crazy amounts of sex

I had told myself, even convinced myself
That this was normal and ideal

How stupid I was
To think my happiness was of unimportance

I told myself that in order to be happy
I had to do what my boyfriend wanted

It sounds so pathetic now
And even hurts me inside

But now I knew...
That there was someone out there
Who longs for my happiness

What I once thought was a fable
Was now becoming reality

I was falling in love
And not just with anybody
But with you

You held the key to my heart
And my world in your hands

I knew...
That as long as I had you
I would never have to worry

You kept me safe
As you held me close

You were my protector
That kept the darkness away

But more importantly you were mine
And I forever yours
