Growing With Realization

You were my everything

The reason for my happiness

I looked to you for acceptance 

And soon found a place in your heart

I loved you so much

Just being with you made me shimmer

Knowing that I was your everything

And your soul mate for life

As each month passed

I only grew more fond of you 

We were lovers

And passionate for each other 

     ******

One day all that changed

And I was left with nothing

Accept for my own self

I was no longer your happiness

Nor the love you once felt for me 

I was just another girl 

Swept from your memory

And left to find my way

For the first time in a long time 

I was on my own

Creating the destiny that was still unknown to me 

At first it was a struggle

But soon I began to unravel 

What I had not seen in me before

Realizing I had been wrong 

You had not been the reason for my existence

Nearly a bolder slowing me down

You helped me as a person

And showed me who I truly was

I grew from our companionship

And soon found what was right in front of

I no longer felt broken

As I once labeled myself

Now, I was a strong independent women

Living in the present

Taking everyday one step at a time

And never looking back

What we had once had was great

But now it's time to say goodbye

We can't replace nor erase

What was once there

However, we can move on

Knowing what we had so luckily found

A place in ones heart

Today I stand

Proud of who I am

What we went through

As partners 

Only helped us grow

And making me realize

All the pain 

And the lies

Helped me become

The women I have come to love
