Third Day in IlliniosA Poem by Eli J MedinaWritten after my move from Southern California
The fields are pleasant
And the wind is overwhelming In the most delightful way Yet the desert remains Out West, some thousands of miles away The Ciquedas screech their mating call The land drenched in verdent flora The wooden bridge under me proved comfortable enough Above the swampish waters Yet Home is still dry dirt with thirsty plants Home is still smog shrouded mountains and skinny coyotes Home is still dark people in a dying place Yet Home was still Home. © 2016 Eli J Medina |
