Liberation

Liberation

A Poem by C. MacCormack

Shackled down in chains
Broken glass beneath my feet
Words filling the air
From razor blades called teeth
They tell me this is warranted
The abuse that I receive
I could have prevented punishment
Had I better served the righteous Queen
They want to see me bloodied,
Scarred, disfigured all my days
Instead I broke through my restraints,
Embedded with shards, and ran away
In the forest I found solace
A quiet peace best known as "free"
Unaware I was surrounded
They were hell-bent on destroying me
The surprise in their attack
Brought out a strength inside unknown
No one could ever hurt me here
The wood was my true home
Beneath the trees there grew hope
Amongst the dreams I had forgot
The warrior they tried to break
Was greater than they thought.

About
Writing has always been therapeutic to me. Speaking my emotions is harder than spilling them onto paper with pen. I also write small stories for my children. more..
