I cannot

I cannot

A Poem by C. MacCormack

I cannot live my life for you
Making plans that you approve
Change the way I think of life
Believe my world is full of strife

I cannot be a hollow shell
Allow you to fill my empty well
Stand and pray for your command
Listen to your reprimand

I cannot sit, stay and wait
Feeding from the poisoned bait
Hoping that you will come back
Tell me again what I lack

I cannot fix what is not broke
We are just two different folk
You live through negativity
In my soul I'm wild and free

I cannot dwell on what you say
I wish you the best,
Please, go away.

About
Writing has always been therapeutic to me. Speaking my emotions is harder than spilling them onto paper with pen. I also write small stories for my children. more..
