A Sacred PlaceA Poem by Koibito "Nickie" Kitsuya
The trees dance
Like it is a joyous holiday The wind touches my face Like a mother's gentle hand This is a peaceful place The creek runs So graceful, so passionate And yet so alive Like a child's mischievous mind This place is a place of pure ecstasy The birds sing The crickets chirp All these notes and rythmns But no human voice This is a utopian place Nature, I walk through The forest in a state of awe A place so beautiful So precious I sit down And close my eyes To listen, just to listen Not with my ears alone No, but with my heart too The crickets chirp The frogs croak There is the rythmn The birds begin to sing There is the melody The wind and the water harmonize And everything blends The wonders of nature And the songs it sings I fall into the music I forget my problems I forget my cares I begin to relax And I know I am at peace This is my rest, my sacred rest
