A Beggar's Acceptance

A Beggar's Acceptance

A Poem by Koibito "Nickie" Kitsuya
"

People should be accepted for being themselves not who everyone else wants them to be.

"
On my hands and knees
I cry to a Higher Power
Let me be accepted
So I can come out of the Tower

Out of the Tower, into the world
I pray for someone's love and affection
And for a place with an opened mind
I might be different but not for attention

I am different because I was born this way
I want nothing more than to be able to live my life
Live the way I am comfortable with
And to have no fear of discovering a knife

I am a beggar, I beg for mercy and understanding
I want to give others a courage to seek harmony
If we can't live with everything out in the open
We will the very few among the many

i really like this piece too...although felt something or some word was missing in the last line...did you mean "we will be"?

if we can't be ourselves...we will live in a closet all our lives...and be miserable...freedom needs to be what it says...really freedom.

Oh, if only the world were more merciful and understanding....just think of how much more pleasant everyone's lives would be. Living as you are comfortable is a great freedom....and once you have decided what will make you serene and peaceful, you have empowered yourself. I enjoyed this one. Lydi**
