Shades of the Same

Held on too tight and let go too fast

what we had wasn't meant to last

How did I get so close to something so far away

let you hurt me and desert me with every passing day

sadly sensing the “i don't care” in your voice

although we might be talking, its just idle noise

I struck a match but I couldn't burn that bridge

There's something about this all/ all of this and I don't know what it is

If believing is seeing then bleeding is being

At some point I knew I would end up grieving

Words don't reflect the truth and you cant see a face over the phone

And I'll just self-disrupt later on my own

Sometimes what you want couldn't be further from what you need

I could try and help myself but I'd rather sit here and bleed

Manipulation is a size best fitted for you

Your eyes were legible and I read through

A vow from you means nothing at all

So I set myself up knowing that I'd fall

Lied to myself to make you seem real

Grasping desperately for a chance to feel

but now I'm just wrecked and trying to heal

There's no more life left for you to steal

Only empty promises amassed in your parade of shame

Everything you say is just shades of the same.

Bob Marley said it best...'The truth is, everyone is going to hurt you. You just got to find the ones worth suffering for.' If the person you seemingly love isn't worth it...just let it go if you've tried and tried to make things work...I love your emotions and enjoyed the couplets, Malerie.

Agreed, SO true...I recently had to do that. Some people just aren't worth suffering for especially when they were never there for me in the first place.

How empty the heart feels when one is in a relationship that is fading into nothingness! A moment of confusion, fear, pain, awkwardness, rage, and shame that somehow slowly ball into apathy. There is nothing to feel anymore, nothing to remember about... because he just does not matter anymore as long as he keeps on hurting. And the only way to stop the pain is to shut him away and forget his existence.
