MaskA Poem by RachelThe more and more of herself begins to fade She tried to keep a mask up To keep others worries at bay They say she’s cheery Oh so happy they say When she goes quiet some days They start to question her Telling her she’s not herself So she puts back up that mask That mask to hide her feelings. The more and more she begins to fade She tries to smile to keep everyone happy She tries and tries to keep up with the cheer It’s becoming hard, behind those eyes are sadness She closes the curtains and masks her feelings for them. They can’t know that she is not happy. It will only hurt them. She keeps them happy to please them Keeps her mask on, but it’s starting to crack She isn’t allowed to feel The more and more she begins to fade. So she will mask her feelings. © 2023 Rachel |
