Reflections

A Poem by Malen

As if by force
She pulled me to the looking glass
Begging me to cross through
Telling me the glories
Beseeching my stories.

Flowers colored the landscape
Raising praise to warm days
Soft grass blew gently
Tickling the creatures to scurry.
Causing the bees to sneeze.
Clamoring to hold their prize.
Joyousness reflected
All in a spiders eyes.

Though something whispers behind.
The hidden happy trees.
Now reminding me
That the bright
Will always cast shade
Behind what they dictate.

Pay no mind she pleas
With another pulling tease.
Coaxing me to step through,
As if in desperation, so
I began to question.

In a moment it began
A harrowing unwelcome.
The mirror turned black
Crows flew high above
Signaling to me run.
Her beauty grew and grew
Until I turned away
Hearing her seduction coming.
The world now unbecoming.

Within a breath I realize
That the shadow now lies
In the darkened mirrors eyes
And if I just went through
This world will have my beauty
Instead of her tormenting glory.
And that, my friends, is the end
Of this looking glass story.
