DamageA Poem by MalenDesolate, lay the barren land Shadowed in nightmares of fallen man Tales told of the children's voices Demonized by other choices Chants rang out, a country united Against an enemy, uninvited Flags flying, people crying, watching their dying Murder disguised all those years Intolerance stopped here From blood flooded, stained the mud Boot marched over forgotten sin Hands held up reaching for peace Mothers, fathers, families Fallen on deaf ears All those years left their mark Unforgiving were their hearts Remembrance of hate unjust Long had faded any trust How the people paid For mistakes they once had made Buried in shallow grave While their leaders just turned away The damage done, called war and victory Putting the people out of misery Survival teetering on fate While people chanted, no more hate © 2015 MalenReviews
