Places BetweenA Poem by MalenStand beside me child; look into the wild My hand you must let go; this world you must know Let not fear reside; open up your eye The fairy tale inside, in this place thrives. Past the darkness bleak, a past you must not seek. On your tippy toes, reach for the rose. A gasp from child peeps as a fairy she does meet. They are hidden everywhere, the eyes say as they greet. Tales and stories live; in places much like these. The cracks, the creeks, the places between. Run along my child; off into the wild. Let the branches hold you up, the grass catch your fall. Let the birds sing to you, the ant tickle you, the beetle crawl. Feel the wind hug you, the dirt color you, the leaves cover you. Show them a dance, sing them a song, play with them, all the day long. Remember these places, their faces; never let them go. Yes, even as you grow old and gray, never forget to come play. Past the darkness, the crack, the creeks, the places between. © 2015 MalenAuthor's Note
